Alternative Gifts and Christmas Cards update

Many of you have bought Christmas cards from Cord over the years. This has been a wonderful way of raising money and spreading the word about our peacebuilding work. We are so grateful to you if you’ve previously bought cards, sold them on our behalf at events, or taken boxes to sell at your church. We are truly grateful for your support!

However, we’ve taken the difficult decision to stop selling Christmas cards from now on. This is because we are no longer making any money from this activity.

Over the last few years, with significant increases in postage costs and with fewer face-to-face events taking place, the amount of money we’ve raised has reduced to the point that we’re hardly breaking even. We know you want us to be good stewards of the resources we have and the money that you so kindly give. And so, after much thought and careful consideration, we’ve decided that we won’t be continuing with Cord Christmas cards.

We appreciate that this will be disappointing news to those of you who buy cards every year, but we hope you understand the reasons for our decision.

Alternative gifts

Our wonderful range of Alternative Gifts will continue though and we’d love you to consider buying them for your friends and family this Christmas. They range in price and reflect many aspects of our work. We’ll be sending out the catalogue later in the year, but you can buy them any time by visiting our website. Choose the gift, fill in your details and we’ll post a lovely card with all the details which you can then send to your friend or family member.

Digital alternative gifts

We’ve also launched a brand new digital Alternative Gifts option. This means that you can buy a gift online and have a digital card emailed directly to your loved one! Simply follow the instructions on the shop section of our website.
