Shifting power: women, climate, and conflict in the Mekong
Bridging the conflict gap in gender-responsive climate action
Women Environmental Defenders in the Mekong region face daily risks as they work to safeguard their communities and natural ecosystems. Despite their vital contributions, environmental and development initiatives often fail to address the complex intersections of gender, climate change, and conflict—especially within the framework of the Women, Peace and Security agenda.
In a shifting funding landscape and shrinking civic space, it is more urgent than ever to listen to the voices of women working on the ground: to understand what’s working, what’s not, and what’s needed.
Drawing on insights from Cord’s EMPOWER project, which supported over 300 women across Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, this webinar provides a platform for grassroots leaders to share their experiences and deliver concrete, actionable recommendations for more conflict-sensitive, gender-responsive environmental programming in the region.
